Ernesto Leon

September 17 through December 11

Opening reception 9/17, 5-8pm

On Saturday, September 17th, from 5 to 8 pm, Five Points Museum of Contemporary Art will host an opening reception for the new exhibit, “Ernesto Leon: Street Photography from Victoria and Beyond.” Featuring multiple themes and covering both still photography and video installations, this exhibit will showcase Ernesto Leon’s candid street photography and documentary work from the Texas-Mexico border, Victoria, Houston and New York.

Ernesto Leon is an internationally exhibited artist based in Houston. Born in Venezuela and highly acclaimed in multiple media, this exhibition will primarily focus on his recent work as he has followed, documented and participated in cultural and political activism in South Texas. His photographic aesthetic confronts current political discussions around immigration and social justice with an intimate connection to his subjects. His work ranges from uniquely saturated color landscapes to black and white pieces that are visually reminiscent of Henri Cartier-Bresson.
